The President's Command Performance
Footprints left by Dory PoP at 12:24 AM, The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
On Sunday 5th April, JJFC had the honour of being invited to The President's Command Performance. Why you might ask? Well of course it's because JJ Lin was one of the performers that night.
It was a grand event i feel, cos i've been to so many events and all, and this is the first time i've seen JJFC actually dressed up for the occasion. :) Here are some photos of us...
Don't you think it looks like a JJFC Prom night? Haha... Well, i had fun, bcos before the event, i had the chance to doll up some of the member's hair. It's been sometime since i've last did a hairdo. But i'm glad i'm not rusty at all.
Here's Yuzhi and her hairdo...
Angela with her hairdo...
Adelene with her hairdo...
(can't see much... haha sorry!)
Here's the short writeup about JJ in the president's command handbook...
JJ Lin
He may be only 28 years old but he has already completed a world concert tour and has begun a second one. Not bad for the shy guy who started singing secretly in the bathroom!
Lin Jun Jie, better known as JJ Lin, discovered his passion for singing when he performed on stage while in primary school. He then began to take part in singing competitions but it was not until he started to actively lead the singing in his church that he felt he began his "real training".
He came into musical prominace after being discovered in Ocean Butterflies Music Forest's Very Singers Training Course. He first achieved success in Taiwan and China. In 2003, he was awarded the 'Best New Artiste' at the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards. He has written songs for various singers, notably A-Mei, A-Do, Harlem Yu, Rainie Yang and Fahrenheit. He writes all the melodies for his own albums. His fourth album, Cao Cao sole 1 million copies in less than a week. His signature tunes include 江南,翅膀,and 一千年以后。
Lin draws his inspiration from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who with his nifty footwork, feel-good music and stage charisma, set a benchmark for those in the singing industry. "I constantly remind myself to tap into my potential. I'm never satisfied with my performance, because there is always room for improvement. That spurs me on without adding more stress. It's more a lifestyle of excellence and passion for performance." he adds.
Beyond hard work, he feels that the key to success is the support of others. He has been blessed with many wonderful people in his life - his family and friends, colleagues and partners in the entertainment industry, his loyal and ardent fans - who have helped him to succeed. "I treasure those who support me and even those who criticise me, because they help me see my weakness and grow," he says.
As a singer and composer, he admits that he feels continuous pressure to keep up with the fast-changing music scene and to handle negative or discouraging comments. There have been times when he just could not write a good melody.
"The power to triumph over adversity comes from less worrying and more believing. I have found that having an optimistic attitude towards everything gives me the extra edge and peace of mind. I work harder and, to borrow the slogan of my favourite street wear label, Smudge, I am "still moving under gunfire.'"

For me, that night, was not all about JJ. There were total 11 performers and each of them has their own talents. Be it in photography, fashion design, music or even literature, this girl caught my attention. Her name is Ning Kam.

She's a violinist. I've been to a few concerts or recitals and heard ppl playing the violin either with a piano accompany or the string orchestra. But that night was the first time i hear someone performing the violin solo. The whole hall was quiet and everyone was listening to the angelic melody that was coming from the violin. The piece she played was Amazing Grace. The best part was that she actually stood on some steps and below her were lots of smoke. This made her looked as though she was an angel playing her piece for God.
That tune touched my heart. I'm sure people there that night enjoyed that too... It was a splendid performance i must say... If u r interested to know who she is you can visit her at her website http://www.ningkam.com/
The president's command performance will be aired on channel 5 on 19th April. So do stay tune for it! It's definately worth a watch!
